Hypocrites?

I’ve read the question, “Why are Christians hypocrites?”, several times on ‘yahoo’. And I’m wondering if these questions are being asked out of ignorance, hatred or what?
Hypocrite – someone who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, abilities, interests…etc., that he/she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions contradict his/her spoken or written words.(Standard Definition)
ALL PEOPLE (Christians, worshippers, clergymen, judges, lawyers, politicians, policemen, entrepreneurs, teachers, students, husbands, wives, parents, children, relatives, doctors,…etc.) ARE HYPOCRITES.
Hypocrisy is the make up of human society – our social and personal lives. We are just pretentious creatures, it’s our nature. From birth ’til death, will will remain hypocrites.

    I don’t believe in hypocrites, if that’s what you’re asking…

  3. skepsis says:

A hypocrite is a person who insists on a level of moral character in others that that person does not himself attempt to emulate. (In other words, hypocrites do not practice what they preach.) All people are imperfect. Not all people are hypocrites.

  5. Angus McCloud says:

Many professing Christians don’t walk the talk.
But then again many professing atheists pray in times of trouble. Remember the old addage “There are no atheists in foxholes”.
So you are correct in saying that there is enough hypocrisy to go around on all sides.

  6. Inigo says:

So your argument is that since everyone is a hypocrite it doesn’t matter. I beg to differ sir. We may all have ideals that we claim to hold but act otherwise but these are generally minor. With something so central to a person’s life as religion or lack thereof I don’t think it is out of line to call someone a hypocrite if warranted and for it to mean exactly that with all of the negative connotations.

    Probably asked due to experience…
