I’d recommend going to the Inc.com and Fastcompany.com websites. They have a variety of articles (both magazine archive and web articles) on this subject.
Inc. does alot w/ inner-city small business, so that’s something else to look for. Examples there might give you enough info for an essay.
Also, you’d want to read Peter Drucker’s classic, “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” if you have time.
