   Research your market, make sure you’ve got something to sell that people are prepared to buy, and in sufficient quantity to make it worth doing whatever it is you want to do.
   Figure out your finances before starting. Lots of startups run into cashflow problems because they haven’t figured there are lean times at the start, you need either to have something that makes money instantly (not easy) or enough reserves to draw on to last at least a year on little income.
